Marbella centre & Old Town
Old streets, squares and the sea in one city break.
Central Marbella is the strongest starting point if you want to combine a historic town, cafés and the seafront without making every outing a drive. The Old Town and the beach are different settings within the centre; choosing between them gives your stay its character.

Begin in the Old Town
Use Plaza de los Naranjos as your starting point, then wander the adjoining lanes and small squares. The square brings together the town hall, the chapel of Santiago and historic civic buildings. There is no need to turn the visit into a checklist: leave time to look up, pause and explore a quieter side street.
From the town to the sea
Link your Old Town visit with the Alameda, Avenida del Mar and the seafront. These make a useful sequence for a first introduction to the centre. Extend your walk along the promenade if you want more sea time. We suggest the sequence as a flexible plan, not a measured accessible route.

Eating and evening plans
Choose between a square for atmosphere, a smaller side street for a slower meal, or the seafront for the view. Check the menu and opening arrangements before committing to a particular restaurant. For performances and seasonal celebrations, use our events page and read the event dates carefully.
Who it suits
First visits, couples and travellers who prefer walking between plans. It is also practical for a short break where sightseeing matters more than a resort’s facilities. For families, check steps, room arrangements and the exact route to the beach rather than assuming every Old Town building has the same access.
What to check before booking
The centre is a broad label. An Old Town boutique hotel offers a different front-door experience from a promenade hotel. Ask about vehicle access, luggage drop-off, parking and lift availability when relevant. For light sleepers, check the room’s outlook and what sits below or beside it.
A day here and our stay choices
Coffee around Plaza de los Naranjos → a wander through the Old Town → Alameda and Avenida del Mar → a seaside lunch or walk. Hotel Claude and La Fonda are Old Town choices; El Fuerte and Puerto Azul offer different coastal settings. Compare the individual guides before choosing between historic atmosphere and being nearer the water.
