San Pedro Alcántara

Town life, a seaside stroll and a little history.

San Pedro offers a different rhythm from the marina at Puerto Banús: a town centre for a coffee and an unhurried wander, with the seafront as a separate part of your day. Choose it for a stay built around everyday cafés, walks and time outdoors rather than a round-the-clock resort programme.

Find your bearings

The old centre, the Bulevar and the beach are distinct places. Start around the church square and pedestrian streets, then use the Bulevar as the next stop. For the coast, continue towards the seafront; a hotel advertised as San Pedro is not necessarily beside the sand. Check the exact address before deciding that you can walk everywhere.

What to do

Spend the morning between the church square and the centre, stopping for breakfast or browsing local shops. The Bulevar makes a natural outdoor pause, especially with children. For a second part of the day, swap streets for the promenade and a meal near the sea. This is our suggested way to combine the town and coast, rather than a timed walking route.

A worthwhile cultural detour

The early Christian Basilica of Vega del Mar, in Linda Vista Baja, adds an archaeological visit to a beach day. Its remains include a basilica, burial area and distinctive baptismal font. Check the municipal visitor information before travelling specifically for it: access hours and arrangements can change, and the site is not in the church square.

Who it suits

A good shortlist for families who like mixing a town with outdoor plans, couples seeking a less marina-focused base, and travellers staying long enough to establish a daily routine. If late-night bars on the doorstep are the priority, compare the exact surroundings with Puerto Banús before booking.

Getting around and choosing a stay

Decide whether you want the centre, the Bulevar or the beach closest to your front door. Parking and the last stretch of the walk matter more than a broad neighbourhood label. Paloma Blanca is in Cortijo Blanco, in the wider San Pedro area; Aqua Apartments Vento offers a self-catering alternative. Compare each property’s map and facilities in our individual guides.

A simple day here

Town-centre breakfast → church square and neighbouring streets → Bulevar pause → seafront stroll and lunch. Keep the archaeological visit as an optional addition once opening arrangements are confirmed. The sequence is an editorial suggestion; it does not imply that all stops are adjacent or open every day.
